Private sector FTTH network construction technology

Navigation technology involves winding an optical cable onto a supporting element using a special winding machine. Let us consider in more detail the main stages of this process.

Mounting the bearing on the supports
A self-supporting cable with a diameter of 7 mm or more can be used as a supporting element. Spiral clamps are used to secure the carrier as close to the support as possible.

Installation of optical drop clutches
The optical coupler is mounted on a special bracket, which is located at some distance from the support. It is better to install the coupling above the self-supporting cable (optical bundle) or in front of it (the bundle passes behind the coupling). In this case, you can conveniently hide the technological stock of the cable for welding behind the bracket between the support and the coupling. After welding, the coupling is mounted on a support. Up to 15 meters of cable reserve can be laid under the sleeve.

Preparing a machine for winding an optical cable
Cable lengths are selected based on the developed project from a range of 25-360 meters in increments of 25 meters. For cable lengths up to 170 meters, a standard 45 mm reel and one main balancing weight are used. With a long length - a set for 90 mm bays is installed on the coil. For 90 mm bays up to 120 meters long, partially wound, the main balancing load is also used. For 120 and up to 240 meters - one additional load is added. From 240 meters and more - two additional loads. These data, in the form of pictograms, are present on the underside of the carrier beam of the machine.

Before work, the machine must be inspected for serviceability and completeness. Then remove the upper cheek of the coil and twist it one or two turns so that the spring is tightened. Unclip the cable sheath from the adhesive tape and install the sheath in the coil. Place the freed inner end of the optical cable in the connector compartment and close the compartment with the magnetic cover. Then install the upper cheek and tighten the nut. Pass the cable through the valve at the rear end of the machine and release the latch on the coil retainer (the coil begins to tighten the cable), you can remove the cable ties.

Then open the rear support, remove the front insert and hang the stabilizing weight on the left hook.

Installation of the machine on the supporting element
Raising the machine with the cable sheath to the mounting height, place the machine on the supporting element. The stabilizing load, however, does not allow the machine to tip over and fall. We connect the cable to the coupling and fix it on the harness. We close and fix the rear support with a cotter pin, insert the front insert and engage the right stabilizer suspension.

Connection of a subscriber drop cable to the coupling and fastening to the supporting element
We release a latch-clamp of the coil. We pull the amount of optical cable necessary for connecting and laying into the sleeve from the coil. We make the connection of the connector. We attach the cable to the bundle with a mounting kit made of double-sided adhesive tape, self-adhesive tape and two clamps.

The winding process - creating an optical harness
The machine can be pulled through the tree crowns using the optionally supplied protective casing, which is mounted in front of the rotation drive with the stabilizer suspended to the right.

When passing the support, first raising the front of the machine, tighten it one or two turns. Then fix the rotation drive with a latch, remove the insert, disconnect the stabilizer's right suspension and open the rear support. If necessary, the machine is removed with the right hand through the harness. After bypassing, install on the harness from the opposite side of the support.

When moving the machine, the cable is pulled. If the optical cable loosens, manually tighten the cable and select the slack. After the machine is installed on the other side of the support, you need to fix the cable with the mounting kit. If the span is anchor, then you need to fasten the cable to two sides of the support. If a spiral clamp, then it is possible to fix only on one side of such a clamp.

Optical cable tapping to the subscriber
Drop cable must be brought to the support and fixed on it with an anchor clip. Next, hang it up to the house. The harness must be diverted if there is a danger of a drop in cable drop. For example, if a branch from a tree hangs nearby or there is a roof from which snow can fall. If a lighting lantern is attached to the support, then the V-shaped cable outlet to the two houses should be slightly stepped away from it so as not to interfere with the replacement of the bulbs from the aerial platform basket.

Fiber optic fastening on a house facade
Having stretched the cable to the house, you need to attach it with an anchor clip to the compensator spring, and the spring to the wall. In this case, the spring itself should stretch a little and create the necessary cable tension. It is also necessary to leave a technological reserve of cable from 5 to 15 meters. The stock must be put in the input box. To protect the fiber optic cable from breakage, lay part of the technological stock before entering the box along the wall in the protective tube.
