Anchor clamps are always required to install the overhead line, designed to keep the overhead line taut. The regulatory distance to the nearest tower must not exceed 50 m, but it is all individual, as the weight load depends on the cross-section to be connected. It is installed with a bracket or other anchoring directly on the pole or on the facade of the building.
The anchor clamp is the main element of line fittings for all types of self-supporting insulated wires.The anchoring device aims to create an optimum slip-free strain on the LV-ABC cable, secure it, and prevent it from sagging under the pressure of wind or gravity and longitudinal loads in cases of icing.
Where to use anchor clamps
Suspended overhead lines running between poles, buildings, and other supports are secured with anchor clamps.
They secure wires at the beginning and end of cable routes, during sudden changes of direction, turns of lines, and in cases of height differences between poles.
Field of application of clamping fittings:
- fastening of cables of high-voltage lines;
- Installation of overhead CIP wires between multi-story buildings to provide subscriber communications;
- Bringing electric wires to administrative buildings;
- laying electric wires to industrial enterprises, etc.
In the case of loads exceeding the permissible values, the clamps may collapse, but the supports remain intact.
Operating principle of the clamps
Self-supporting insulated wires are stretched without additional supporting cables. The cable is inserted into a wedge-shaped plastic insert in the body of the anchor clamp.
The LV-ABC wire, when under tension, is automatically wedged between the teeth of the wedge inserts and held securely in the conical clamp made of high-strength materials.
But most importantly, the design provides that the anchor clamp does not destroy the insulation of electric wires during installation work. At the same time, the clamping mechanism firmly fixes the cable without removing and damaging the outer layer of the braid.
Anchor clamping to poles of power lines
The anchor clamp works together with its counterpart - the anchor bracket. A staple attached the clamp directly to a frame firmly fixed to reinforced concrete, brick wall, or pole.
Anchor brackets differ from each other in material, size, and appearance. Their design depends on where the clamp is installed:
1. For attaching cables to wooden poles or logs, conventional screw hooks made of corrosion-resistant steel are used.
2. 2. CA1500, CA2000, and SO253 brackets are fixed to concrete supports and outer walls of buildings. These parts are aluminum alloys with high resistance to climatic and mechanical stresses.
Mounting metal strips 20 mm wide or mounting bolts M14 or 16 are used for CIP fasteners.
Tip: Use a particular bandage tightening device, type CVF, to tighten the bandage metal strips. Wrap the prepared steel band around the power line pole and pull it. Then secure the ribbon with reinforced cleats and cut off the excess length with the torch in the bandage tightening tool.
The advantages of anchor clamps
The requirements make the products of current standards. The main advantages of the anchoring mechanisms are:
1. Reliability of wire fastening.
2. Simple design.
3. Relatively low price.
4. Quick installation, no complicated tools are required for installation.
5. Versatility (used on spans of any length).
